Today I was sore and achy. I woke up with a huge headache. My arm felt yuck.
Should I go to school? I thought about it for an hour. I thought about going to school (my dining table) and showing up for my kiddos. But showing up means a lot more than logging on zoom. It means being real and accessible and kind and listening. I was not able to do that fully this morning.
I texted my school, sipped on my coffee and went back to sleep.
Two hours later...
The sun was shining. My windows were wide open. I decided to go for a walk. It felt amazing. And I'm grateful that I listened to my body.
It's so easy to push through when I'm not 100% but I'm trying to remind myself that it's okay to step back.
Bella knows how to step back and relax.
We should all learn a lesson from Bella.
It's more than okay to step back! I'm glad you did! Sometimes it's hard to remember and allow that for ourselves. Yeah, you!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you took time today. It is always good to pause and take time. I think we all need to do that more, especially teachers!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this message. It is important to listen to our bodies, as well as think about all the ways we need to be there for our students. Sometimes it isn't best to try to be there when we aren't our best. Kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteYes! It’s so important to listen to our bodies... I have to keep reminding myself of that!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone! The day after #2 was the worst for me. Thankfully it wears off. Hang in there and feel better!
ReplyDeletePushing through never seems to work! I'm glad you listened to your body and prioritized you.

ReplyDeleteBella! I could deal with a "Lessons from Bella" blog! :)
However, what great advice for us! That idea of pushing through is so hard to stop and that mindset, difficult to change. But if we are truly listening, we'll take notice!
Thanks for sharing today! :)
